“…what makes them brighten, quicken, glow with light…”

“That is where learning lies.”

I have to share this fabulous essay on how children learn by writer and filmmaker Carol Black. It paints a wonderful picture about how if a teacher provides tools and resources, and knows when to get out of the way, students are able to express themselves in profoundly meaningful ways. It’s a long read but parents and teachers owe it to ourselves to consider these ideas. I personally find it very freeing; we can take our role as caregivers seriously and still allow the students to lead. They want to learn, and they can lead us to the best ways to teach them.
