Appalachian Spring Monday night April 11, 7:30pm at Edenton St. United Methodist Church, Raleigh

Appalachian Spring is one of my favorite pieces, and I’m happy to be playing the piano part next week in this performance. This is the original scoring for 13 instruments and it will be danced by Carolina Ballet member Colby Treat. This version has some material that will sound fresh and new if you’ve only heard the orchestral suite version. I can’t think of a much better time or place to play Appalachian Spring than Raleigh in the middle of April!

This is a great program with Samuel Barber’s evocative Knoxville: Summer of 1915 with soprano Kathryn Mueller, and George Chadwick’s String Quartet No. 4 performed by the Aurora Musicalis string quartet. Here’s the event page and I hope you can make it out!
