Piano Students Sing!

“If you can sing it, you can play it.” I hear this so often from musicians that I admire. We often try to just teach piano and hope that the singing voice will just come along on its own, and I think that’s a mistake. Teach the voice first and piano skills will follow.

I’ve had remarkable success with children and adult students in helping them learn to sing and I just wanted to share with you what’s possible. Have a look!

  1. I am 200% behind this. The more I teach the more I realize that singing is fundamental for building musicianship and audiation skills. Sing tunes. Sing the root harmony. Sing in ensemble. Repeat. Then play.
